How to Run Portable Google Chrome from a USB Flash Drive

Download the Portable Google Chrome installer from this link:
http://stadt-bremerhaven.de/download-manager.php?id=250
The installer is a 7zip extractor. To get Portable Google Chrome set up on a flash drive, click the “…” button and choose the flash drive. Click Extract. The “…” button is a browse button. You would click on Computer and then the appropriate drive. When the extraction is complete, you may use the portable version of Chrome right away. Browse your flash drive and double-click its icon. You will notice that the language is set to German by default. If you speak and read German, that is fantastic. On the other hand, you may not. Click the wrench button in the upper right corner of the screen and select Options. In this demonstration, only a few of the words are in German and everything else is in English. Usually, it is all in German. Select “Under the Hood” and under the Web Content section, click the “Languages and spell-checker settings” box.
You will see the language list and it may already have English (United States) as the default, but some content is still going to come up in German, so click Add at the bottom left of the screen and select the appropriate language.
Click OK. Your browsing history is saved to the flash drive.

Note : The overall speed is generally slower than the PC non-portable version.

How to Block Facebook, Twitter, Email for Few Hours Daily

install the Website Blocker extension. Edit some settings and you can block any website for as many hours as you want.
Choose the settings wisely and the extension provides a simple interface to  block websites, as many as you want and at custom times you want. You can also type an optional message.

How to Block Any Website for Employees / Users

This extension works well if you want to prevent access of social media sites by your employees. Simply block the sites during working hours and they will never know how to access them.
1. Hide the Website Blocker icon from the Chrome toolbar. Right click the icon and click “Hide button”
Hide button
2. Disable the link from showing in the block message alert which can guide people to disable the options. Also disable the ability to edit settings from the popup alert options
block disable link
Unless people really know how to browse around into Chrome settings, identify the website blocker, experiment with its settings and disable it –  it should work to block websites for most people. Just keep Chrome as default and only browser on the computer.

Facebook Photo Theater Killer

The new photo viewer or theater is embarrassing for many facebook users. To get rid of this I found a userscript.

Script Summary:
Kills the annoying (IMHO) new photo theater on facebook. Instead loads the old photo viewer, as long as facebook keeps it running.
Version: 2.1
Copyright: 2011+, David Harvey
License: GPL version 3 or any later version; http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html

This has been tested in Chrome with the Tampermonkey extension and in Firefox with the Greasemonkey add-on. Let me know if you run into any issues. Also, if you find the script helpful, if you would, please, "fan" it.
2.1: Fixed an issue in newer versions of Firefox/Greasemonkey that caused the script to error out.
2.0.1: Fixed the timeout on the script to check the links for updating.
2.0: Added some functionality to capture the click before it can launch the theater. The theater still OCCASIONALLY shows up, but not as often as before.

The script is can be found here.
